The 9th Chinese Lexical Semantics Workshop (CLSW2008)
July 14-19, 2008, Singapore
The Chinese and Oriental Languages Information Processing Society of Singapore (COLIPS) is pleased to announce that the 9th Chinese Lexical Semantics Workshop (CLSW2008) will be held from 14 to 19, July 2008 in Singapore and Bali, Indonesia. The main conference and paper presentations will be held in Singapore (14-16, July 2008) and post-conference workshop and discussion (16-19, July 2008) will be held in Bali.
The previous conferences have been held in different Asia Pacific cities: Hong Kong, Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Xiamen, and Hsin Chu. CLSW has become one of the most important meetings in Asia for scholars of Chinese Lexical Semantics and related fields, such as Theoretical Linguistics, Information Processing and Computational Lexicography.
CONFERENCE TOPICS
The aim of the 9th Chinese Lexical Semantics Workshop (CLSW2008) is to bring together researchers interested in any aspect of Chinese lexical semantics. Topics of interest for the workshop include theoretical, computational or application related issues of lexical semantic research. Papers are invited on substantial, original, and unpublished research in any aspects of lexical semantics in Chinese, including, but not limited to, the following:
- recent advancement in lexical semantics;
- Corpus annotation: methodologies and tools for sense tagging, collocational restrictions;
- Construction of lexical resources, including dictionaries, thesaurus, ontology, etc.;
- Representation, computation and inference of Chinese lexical meanings;
- Application issues of Chinese lexical semantics in NLP,Language engineering, lexicography, and other language disciplines.
Papers on any topics in Chinese Lexical Semantics and related fields are cordially welcome.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES
The official languages of the conference and workshop are English and Chinese (Mandarin).
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Abstracts should be as specific as possible, with statements of topic, approach/methodology, analysis and conclusion. Abstracts are limited to two A4 pages in 12-point font with 1'' margins. Data and examples must be given within the body of the text rather than at the end, though references may be included on a separate page, if necessary. Acceptable file formats are Portable Document Format (.pdf), MS Word (.doc), and plain text.

Accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings with ISBN numbers obtained from the Singapore government. Selected quality papers will be published in the Commercial Press (Beijing)
